The good, the bad, and the ugly (sort of)

Had various results tonight. First up is #0078 which is a Coober Pedy crystal that isn’t that remarkable. It’s pretty and has some flash to it, however it was too thin to really do anything with. On one end it is 2mm, then like a wedge, gets down to about .75mm. The curves that show are actually on the back of the opal. I might see if I can get anything from it by putting it on a black setting. .55c, 7mm x 7mm x 1mm (average thickness). $5 plus shipping.

Second, #0080. 1.15c, 9mm x 7mm x 3mm. This one has quite a nice play of red and green in it, though they are not to bright depending on light. Unfortunately it also has a bit of a fracture on on end. :(

Third, #0081. This one I am happy to present. Weight: .95c, size 9mm x 5mm x 2.5mm. This Coober Pedy opal is quite interesting in that it has a split personality. roughly one half of it is a beautiful bright green fire, while the other half is has red! The colors jump off this opal from many many angles. Kind of an odd shape, but a great opal. Will sell for $40 loose, but I’m going to look also at getting this one set. It’s a beautiful stone.
